Mock Interviews
Professionalism Fashion Show
Mock Interviews are an opportunity for Gannon University junior and senior education majors to practice interviewing skills with local area principals.
Principals from the area come to Gannon, and each student has the opportunity to interview with 2-4 principals. This provides a low stress setting in which to practice interviewing skills, and exposes these local principals to soon to be graduated teachers. After the mock interviews, principals keep the resumes that they just aquired.
This year will be our fourth year having the mock interviews, and we have found it to be a beneficial and rewarding experience for our student teachers to have before going into the workforce.
Our Professional Fashion Show is a professional development event where students and professors model what is professional and what is unprofessional.
This is an event that we open up to all of Gannon University, and include students and professors from all majors. Students model what is professional while professors model what is unprofessional. It is a fun event for everyone!
After the interviews, local clothing boutiques showed what they could offer in terms of professional clothing. We also offered a couple stations on interviewing ettique and using professional language. At each station, participants could earn tickets to enter into a grand prize drawing.
We made this a fun event that still educated students that will be entering the workforce soon on what professionalism is. This event is held every other year, so our members have continued planning for the future.

PSEA Representative, Rob Myers, came to Gannon University in October of 2016. He discussed benefits of being an SPSEA member, new teacher issues, Politics in Education, and the Presidential Election. This event was open to all Gannon University School of Education students and faculty. Our members benefited from this event by learning more about PSEA and having the opportunity to discuss current teacher issues with a professional.
